"Our Aim is to promote and teach Authentic Japanese Wado-Ryu Karate, and we are proud of the standard we have achieved, and teach. We welcome any student who wishes to learn and practice this rewarding style. Whether you are 6 or 60 years old there is always new Personal challenges for you to achieve." - Sensei Denis Dunn
Sensei Shiomitsu brought the Grandmaster of Wado-Ryu H. Ohtsuka II the son of the founder of the style to Scotland and invited all Wado students from any Association to attend in an attempt to unite Wado again in Scotland. After the visit the Grandmaster gave personally gave Denis the ominous task of protecting the name of Wado-Ryu in Scotland, and to establish our own Organisation. The only Organisation in Scotland authorised by him to teach the Wado-Ryu traditional style of Karate.
Denis decided to expand the clubs and asked Sensei Shiomitsu to name our first independent club. That name still stands today for every club we have. Ren Bu Kan which means "a place to train hard in Martial Art".
Denis retired as Chief Instructor and President of WKA Scotland in 2007. Sensei Jake Haynes and Sensei Robert Millar have since taken the on the task of protecting the name of Wado Ryu Karate in Scotland. We have a well established club stucture in place with qualified Scottish Karate Board Instructors. We teach the authentic traditional style of Wado-Ryu Karate, with a direct link to through to the founder of the style.
National Grading's are conducted by Senior Academy Instructors and are not compromised in any way.
